America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10: Top Model Takes It to the Streets

Last night’s episode of really highlighted the varying levels of confidence within that New York City loft.  We had a girl who loved to talk about herself in third person; the girl who studied hard to make herself better; and the girl who wasn’t quite sure if she still belonged in the competition.

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10: Where’s the Beef?

ANTM logo

Yesterday’s episode of ran the gamut of cringe-inducing moments.  We had the girl who thinks she’s so smart but makes idiotic mistakes; the girl who came back from the dead and is now cockier than ever; the free-spirited girl who makes the driven ones feel uncomfortable; and the girl full of potential who doesn’t know how to model.

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10: Top Model Makeover

Last night’s episode of got to the root of why I can’t stop watching the series.  Every season, there’s a girl (or two) who somehow manages to overestimate their talent.  Then there is the person (often times the same one) who inevitably disagrees with what the professionals have to say.  (Anyone else smelling American Idol right now?)  Although the idiocy can sometimes be hard to watch, I usually end up relishing it.  You know those moments are setting you up for an embarrassing fall from grace.

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10: New York City, Here We Come

ANTM logo

Last week, I compared the premiere of to both The Bad Girls Club and Charm School.  This time around, I actually felt like I was watching an episode of Survivor.  Wednesday’s surprise ending – like the recent Tribal Councils on the CBS program – just made my jaw drop.

Yesterday’s show kicked off with the fourteen aspiring models getting a load of their new NYC digs.  While their pad was definitely impressive, it was not overly done up like the previous homes in LA.  This one actually reminded me of The Real World’s inaugural season in New York.  (Remember that one?)  Thankfully, a room full of bunk beds prevented needless catfighting over space.  There was also one large bed that looked like it had been ripped straight from ’s grotto.  (It was unclear who had opted to share that sleeping arrangement.)

This Week on TV (2/18-2/24)

America's Next Top Model

MONDAY (2/18)
  • Prison Break (FOX, 8pm):  Tonight may be the end of the show as we currently know it.  Maybe Michael can finally let go of that steely gaze now.
  • Dance War (ABC, 8pm):  The next contenders will be announced during the spinoff’s season finale.  Finally, a reason for me to watch.
  • Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm):  Robin Antin is searching for a gal to complete an entirely different musical act.  With Danity Kane already taken, she had to settle for the 2nd crappiest group name available.
  • My Dad is Better Than Your Dad (NBC, 9pm):  “This competition series features fathers and their children in challenges that test the patriarch’s strength, intelligence and parenting skills.”  Since when did NBC start stealing ideas from ?

Judge Twiggy Leaving ‘America’s Next Top Model’

DescriptionIs there something about that female judges can’t stand?

When first debuted in 2003, Baby Phat’s graced the judge’s panel along Tyra.  Since that time, the producers have met the estrogen quota by introducing ‘The World’s First Supermodel’ and .

But now after 5 years with the ‘Living Legend’, we’ve learned of another new face for Season 10: .  The woman who was featured in many Sports Illustrated issues (and was quickly dismissed on last season’s Dancing With The Stars) will soon be warming Twiggy’s seat at the far end of the table.  According to the producers, the replacement was made due to ‘scheduling conflicts’ in Ms. Lawson’s schedule.  (Of course, we know that excuse could be used as loosely as ‘irreconcilable differences’.)

I can only imagine that this new development might provide a ratings boost for the now long-running show.  I think most people in the 18-49 demographic can remember admiring Paulina’s photo at one point and time; I don’t think that’s something that could be said of Twiggy.
